🎨 How to color it

Try pearl white for the habitat domes, steel blue for the tube walkways, dusty gray for the crater ground, and bright teal for the greenhouse plants. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny doors, solar-panel grids, rover tires, and dish supports, then switch to broader strokes on the open lunar hills. For a space-colony glow, shade each round dome from pale yellow at the windows to cool lavender along the curved edges.

Under the big striped planet, Liora carried a plain glass bead in her glove pocket and hurried between the tunnel-domes before the comet parade began. The bead looked like nothing: a cloudy marble with one scratch. Secretly, it held last year’s parade light, the only flash she had saved before leaving home for the moon settlement. She wanted to watch it alone from the greenhouse, where warm leaf-smell fogged the panels and the rover’s tires went crunch-crunch outside.

Then the hilltop signal dish sneezed static. Krrrzzzt! Every round dome went dark. Astronauts froze by doorways, solar panels, and crater paths, their helmets turned toward the empty sky. Liora could have kept her bead hidden. Instead, she pressed it into the dish’s little receiver slot and whispered, “Share it careful.”

The bead burst into dots of gold, bouncing through every tube and porthole until the whole base blinked like it was laughing. Everyone whooped so loudly the greenhouse leaves trembled. Ever since, moon domes are built with round windows, so any joy too big for one pocket can shine out under the big striped planet.
