🎨 How to color it

Color the tall cactus sage green, the rosette succulent blue-green with lavender tips, the patterned cactus pot warm terracotta, and the desert hills sandy tan. Use sharp colored pencils for the cactus ribs, tiny spines, pot leaf motifs, and layered succulent petals so the narrow spaces stay crisp. Try making the rosette’s center glow pale yellow-green, like it is hiding a small desert secret.

The story behind this coloring page

Under the cool rim of her clay pot, Vera counted the hush between cricket chirps. She had set herself a challenge: before sunrise, she would bring back one moon-drop from the white stones beyond the tall cactus. The sand felt chilly as she eased from her safe hollow, and every pebble pressed a round ache into her lowest leaves.

Past the barrel pot, the big cactus clicked softly in the wind. “Not all drops fall from the sky,” it whispered. Vera almost turned back, but a silver glimmer winked near the prickly pear patch. She slid closer and found no water at all—only a tiny pale moth, dusted bright as moonlight, resting on a stone.

The moth lifted, circled Vera once, and settled in the cup of her center. Warmth spread through her leaves like morning before morning. She returned to her pot without a moon-drop, carrying a soft shine instead. If you spot the small center of the rosette, keep its secret: Vera counted the hush between cricket chirps and knew she was exactly home.
