Every day before the bell over Sweetwheel Bakery went ting-a-ling, Bea lined up rolls, wiped sugar from the window, and tried to sell the enormous heart cookie no one dared buy. It smelled like warm butter and orange zest, and it was so big it needed its own cake stand. To make it famous, Bea invented Crumb-Clue Contest: whoever guessed the secret ingredient could take home the first slice.
Until one day, she iced the first clue—“It crunches!”—and a boy shouted, “Pickles!” Because of that, three customers searched the bread shelf for pickle crumbs. Because of THAT, the flour sack tipped, poofing the bakery white as a snow globe, and Bea sneezed a tiny sugar heart onto the counter. “New clue!” she cried.
Finally, the baker spotted the crunchy answer hiding in plain sight: candied almonds stuck to Bea’s sleeve. Everyone laughed, bought slices, and guessed new clues for the next batch. If you peek at the busy bakery scene, can you find the giant cookie that smelled like warm butter and orange zest?
