Tap-tap went Zadie’s shoes on the warm wooden stage. She patted the round cardboard moon she had cut, taped, and painted all by herself. “Ready, moon?” she whispered.
The curtains swished. Her skirt bounced. Zadie spun once, twice, whee! The moon stood behind her, big and bright.
Then the janitor’s flashlight blinked through a tiny hole in the cardboard. Pop! A star winked back.
