Under the warm car-wash lights, Della rolled in with a tiny pink button tucked in her cup holder. She gave it one tap: plip! The brushes whirred, the soap smelled like lemon candy, and bubbles bounced across her windshield like popcorn.
A bubble landed on the glass and made a wobbly letter D. Then came an E, then a L. Della honked, “Are you spelling me?” More bubbles slid together: DELLA, TELL A JOKE. She tapped the button twice.
The sprayer sneezed mist, the brushes fluffed like tickly feathers, and the bubbles wrote: WHY DID THE CAR TAKE A BATH? Della waited, tires wiggling in the puddles. The answer popped into place: TO GET A CLEAN GETAWAY! If you peek at all those bubbles, maybe one is still saving the next joke for Della’s tiny pink button.
