Every day, Pip tapped puddles with his toes: plink, plunk, plop. He wanted the cattails to clap, so he invented Drip-Hop, a game where he could hop only when a raindrop bonked his leaf umbrella.
But one day the rain got sneaky. Drips fell left, right, behind him—never on top. Because of that, Pip had to sit still on his lily pad, grinning while his knees wiggled. Because of THAT, the pond bugs gathered to tease him. “Hop already!” buzzed a gnat.
At last—PLOP!—one fat drop hit the leaf, and Pip sprang in a perfect splashy circle. The cattails rustled like applause, and if you peek at his toes, you might hear: plink, plunk, plop.
