🎨 How to color it

Color her pigtails honey brown, the big bow strawberry pink, the star clips sunny yellow, and the clouds pale blue. Use chunky crayons for the wide hair sections and shirt, then try a sharper crayon point inside the tiny stars on the bow. For a sweet twist, make each background star a different bedtime color, like lavender, peach, and mint.

The story behind this coloring page

The Bow That Made Stars — Under the slanted attic roof, Tessa pulled soft ribbon through her fingers, swish, swish, swish. Read the full story →

Under the slanted attic roof, Tessa pulled soft ribbon through her fingers, swish, swish, swish. She wanted to make a bow for the Night Fair all by herself, but her needle kept slipping and the thread made cranky knots. Dust smelled like old paper. In the very bottom of the sewing basket, where nobody ever looked, something silver winked beneath a button. “Hello?” Tessa whispered.

It was a tiny moon crumb, cool as a spoon. Tessa tucked it into the middle of her bow and stitched until her fingers felt proud and warm. When she tied the bow in her hair, the crumb gave a gentle ping, and little stars popped out—onto her clips, onto the ribbon, up between the sleepy clouds. Ever since then, handmade bows can call down starlight if they are stitched with care. Can you spot where Tessa’s first stars landed?
