🎨 How to color it

Give the smiling fish a sunny yellow body, the striped fins a teal blue, the tube coral a soft lavender, and the rocky reef ledges a sandy tan. Use sharp colored pencils for the fin stripes and coral grooves, then fill the fish’s broad body with smooth, even strokes. Try making the bubble trail fade from pale blue at the bottom to nearly clear near the top, as if it is floating into bright water.

Every morning, before the reef woke fully, Zevi slipped along the dawn wall and tapped one bubble from each tube coral: ploop, plip, ploom. He had just invented the Sky Game, where every bubble had to match something above—round moon, pearl cloud, far-off sun. He wanted to find a bubble big enough to hold the whole morning light.

Until one day, a silver bubble rose from the deepest tube and did not pop. It trembled with gold, smelling faintly of salt and warm stone. Because of that, Zevi chased it under a leaning coral shelf, and because of THAT, he saw the bubble catch every color in the reef at once—blue shadows, pink branches, green wavering weed. The joy pressed so hard in his chest that keeping it felt impossible.

“Come see!” Zevi called, and his voice made tiny bubbles scatter like bells. Parrotfish, shrimp, and shy gobies followed him to the tube coral, where everyone took turns adding one breath to the shining trail. Until finally, the whole reef played Sky Game together, sending bright circles upward. Next time you spot the bubbles beside Zevi, count which one might still be holding the whole morning light.
