🎨 How to color it

Color the snail’s body soft peach, its shell pale lavender, the falling raindrops sky blue, and the leafy garden in mixed greens. Use sharp colored pencils for the many leaf veins and small pebble shapes, then switch to a broader crayon or marker for the snail’s smooth body. Try making each raindrop darker at the pointed top and lighter near the shiny curved highlight.

Beyond the lettuce wall, a cool smell slipped through the soil cracks, and Kesto pressed his tiny feelers toward it. He wanted one fresh drink before the sun warmed his hiding leaf. The path outside looked too wide, with shiny stones like little moons and grass blades ticking together in the breeze.

Plip. A raindrop landed ahead of him but did not splash. “Follow the hollow sound,” it whispered. Kesto’s foot tightened on the gritty dirt. He slid out anyway, leaving his silver trail behind, and a thorn scratched his soft side as he squeezed past a curled cabbage leaf.

Under the overhang of fern and violet, Kesto found not a puddle, but three hanging drops trembling from a leaf rib. Inside each one glowed a tiny upside-down garden. He drank the smallest drop, and the whisper became rain. If you visit the garden path in your colors, see whether Kesto still looks like he is listening for that first plip.
