🎨 How to color it

Color the strawberry ruby red, its leafy cap and big side leaves spring green, the tall flower golden yellow, and the tiny butterfly lavender. Use chunky crayons or broad markers for the strawberry’s large round body, then switch to a sharper crayon tip for the little seeds, flower centers, and snail shell spiral. Try making every other seed a darker red dot so the smiling berry looks extra juicy against a pale blue garden background.

Under the damp green leaves, Sela tapped one seed, then another. “Secret Seed Game,” she whispered, trying to count only the seeds that felt warm from the morning sun. Tap-tap, hush-hush. A snail stopped chewing clover. A butterfly folded its wings. On the seventh tap, the seed made a tiny ping, like a spoon on a teacup.

Sela’s smile grew too big to keep. She called, “Come hear!” The snail slid close, the butterfly dipped down, and every warm seed pinged back in turn. Ever since that hidden morning, strawberry seeds sit on the outside, where friends can tap them and share the secret music; next time you see Sela’s seeds, which one do you think pinged first?
