Inside moonlet harbor, Solby pressed a plain white button on his suit and listened. He wanted to hear the sleeping planets breathe, but the air hose went huff-huff, and the dock bells went ting, and curiosity pulled him farther than bedtime should.
At the last silver post, the button warmed under his mitten. A tiny voice whispered, “Point me up.” Solby did, and a little star popped from his helmet, glowing butter-yellow. All the noisy bells grew soft. Far away, the planets sighed, whooo, whooo, in their dreams.
Ever since then, star explorers wear a star on top, so quiet sounds can find them. Next time you spot Solby’s little antenna, can you imagine the planets breathing?
