In a soft straw nook, Pip patted his hat and reached for his lucky feather. It was gone! He wanted it back before the bell went ding-dong for supper.
Pip stepped onto the barn path. The wind went whoo, and cold mud squished his toes. He waited by the fence. One brown feather twirled down—too small. “Not mine,” said Pip.
