🎨 How to color it

Color the unicorn horn in alternating lavender and pearl-white bands, make the two flowers sunny yellow with coral centers, and dot the stars in bright gold. The horn’s wide spiral stripes are perfect for chunky crayons or markers, while the little circles can be filled with quick taps. For a secret-magic look, shade the horn from darker purple at the bottom to pale pink near the tip.

In the hush before breakfast, a tiny star-spark blinked beyond Quilla’s favorite fern. She wanted it for the first stripe of her horn, but the path outside the fern was cold with dew and went squish, squish under her hooves.

Quilla stepped out anyway. A beetle’s shiny back brushed her ankle, and a wet leaf slapped her nose. “Don’t tell the fern I squeaked,” she whispered. The star-spark rolled beside two sleepy flowers, then vanished.

Quilla lifted one soft petal. Hidden underneath was not the spark, but a silver seed humming like a bee in a teacup. She carried it home, and by breakfast it made her horn glow in stripes. If you peek between the flowers, you might keep Quilla’s squish-squish secret too.
