🎨 How to color it

Color the monster truck emerald green, the rainbow in bright red-orange-yellow-green-blue-purple bands, and the shamrocks a mix of lime and deep clover green. Use sharp colored pencils for the small confetti, tire bolts, banner letters, and tiny shamrocks before filling the wider truck panels with markers. Try making the rainbow brightest at the top and slightly softer near the cloud ends, as if parade sunlight is shining through it.

Behind the bakery on St. Brigid Street, a monster truck named Dara polished a plain brass buckle until it smelled like pennies and warm soap. She wanted to deliver one thank-you without anybody clapping for it: a tiny buckle from Mr. Keane’s old parade hat, saved for the street sweepers who cleaned green paper moons before sunrise.

The trouble was the crowd. Drums boomed against the shop windows, balloons squeaked, and every lane was packed with waving elbows. Dara tucked the buckle under her seat, but the wind snapped the parade banner loose. It skittered toward the gutter where the sweepers waited, unseen in their gray coats.

“Secret favor?” whispered Dara, and revved low. She rolled forward, not fast, just strong, letting the banner catch across her tow hooks. The buckle flashed once, and the banner lifted with it, pulling the rainbow arch down until its cloud ends rested near the truck bed. Under that bright, low bridge, the sweepers found the gift with nobody watching. Ever since, parade rainbows ride low enough for quiet thanks to pass beneath them—next time you spot those cloud ends, check what secret they might be hiding.
