🎨 How to color it

Color the coral arches sandy tan, the tall seaweed emerald green, the branching coral peach, and the little fish bright orange. Use broad crayon or marker strokes for the big wavy water bands, then switch to a sharper pencil for the tiny bubbles and fish fins. Try making the upper water bands fade from pale blue to deep teal so the reef feels secret and glowing.

Under the blue-green hush, Zadie tapped her shell spoon on every coral arch she could find. Plink, plunk, plank—she had challenged herself to hear one hidden note before sunset, but the reef stayed quiet except for bubble pops and fishy swishes.

At the biggest arch, a silver fish darted through with a wink. Zadie held her breath and tapped once more. The arch answered, ting! A whole school zipped after it, and the stone sang ting-ting-ting, bright as joy spilling from a jar. “Everybody through!” Zadie called, laughing into the salty light.
