🎨 How to color it

Color the leading king’s robe royal blue, the two gift jars warm gold, the domed town sandy beige, and the great star bright yellow. Use sharp colored pencils for the robe borders, crown points, jar patterns, and tiny sky stars so the small details stay crisp. Try a deep navy-to-purple night sky behind the yellow star to make the travelers’ faces glow.

Every night, Parsa walked at the front of the caravan and tapped his thumb against his palm for each new star he could name. Seven taps was easy now, so he set himself a harder dare: eight before the moon climbed over the dunes. The sand hissed under sandals, camel bells clinked, and the spice jars smelled of myrrh and warm cedar.

Then one night, an enormous star flashed where no star had been. Parsa’s eighth tap froze in the air. Their old map showed only empty hills ahead, but the star poured silver light over a road curling toward a far town. Because Parsa pointed first, the oldest traveler turned his crowned head and asked, “Do we follow?” Because his knees knocked, Parsa almost said no—but the light made the gift chest shine like a tiny door.

“Follow,” Parsa said, and his voice came out small but steady. At last the caravan left the inked map behind, carrying gold, frankincense, and myrrh toward the sleeping rooftops. If you trace the sky above their turbans, can you find the eighth star that made Parsa’s thumb stop tapping?
