🎨 How to color it

Color the adult tiger deep orange with bold black stripes, the cub a lighter golden orange, the stream pale blue, and the rounded rocks soft gray. Use sharp colored pencils for the narrow stripes and leaf veins, then switch to gentle side-strokes for the rippling water around each stone. Try making the stones under the tigers a little warmer, as if sunlight has chosen their path through the forest.

The story behind this coloring page

Where the Stones Wait — Under the hush of tall trees, Sena carried a plain brown pebble in her mouth. Read the full story →

Under the hush of tall trees, Sena carried a plain brown pebble in her mouth. It smelled of rain and warm fur, because her mother had slept with it beside her paw when Sena was tiny. Sena wanted to put it somewhere it would not be lonely, but every hollow log felt too dark, and every fern bed felt too soft.

At the forest stream, water whispered shh-shh over flat stones. Mother stepped first, her paws sure and quiet. Sena followed, pebble tucked safe, until her paw touched a round stone that hummed like a purr. “Here?” she asked.

She set the pebble between two larger stones. The stream curled around it, making silver rings, and the pebble stopped looking small. From that day on, the forest kept stepping-stones in its streams, so every wandering paw could find the next good place to belong. If you follow the ripples, can you find Sena’s little stone waiting with the others?
