🎨 How to color it

Color the monkey’s fur golden brown, the T-shirt sky blue, the banana peel bright yellow, and the tall tree trunk warm tan. Use chunky crayons or broad markers for the big face, shirt, and tree shapes, and don’t worry if little hands color past the bold lines. Add a secret rainbow tint to the round sun and puffy clouds so the monkey’s wave feels extra friendly.

Under the warm sun, Ludo made up a game called Hello Trail. He wanted to find out who could send the quietest hello in the whole jungle. From his soft grass spot, he waved at a beetle. Tap-tap went its feet. He waved at a dangling leaf. Swish went the leaf. Then a banana peel on the ground curved like a yellow smile, pointing away from home.

Ludo stepped past the tall tree where the air smelled woody and sweet. He paid one small price: his toes got muddy in a cool puddle. At the far leaf, he heard a tiny whisper. “Hello.” It was the echo of his own wave, bouncing back from every friend he had passed. Ludo hurried home grinning.
