🎨 How to color it

Layer deep indigo into the crescent’s outer rim, add antique gold to the five stars, and use teal, plum, and copper for the mandala circles and curled paisleys inside the moon. Because the page is packed with tiny scallops, spirals, dots, and flower petals, use sharp pencils and color one enclosed section at a time to keep the black outlines crisp. Try making the open space behind the stars a very pale violet wash so the gold star points seem to leap out of the crescent.

Wind snapped silver against Rune’s cheeks as she raced the patterned skyway, tracing spirals, petals, and bright knots by fingertip, certain the fastest route ran along the crescent’s bold outer curve. The path opened into rings and scalloped chambers, each one humming like a struck glass, and her boots found a rhythm among the stars. Then a stranger stepped from a five-pointed doorway, carrying no map at all—only a mirror that showed Rune not ahead of the sky, but braided through it. Laughing, she rode on beside the cartographer, exactly where the turning sky had been carrying her.
