🎨 How to color it

Layer the raptor in deep teal and moss green, make the jagged crystals smoky violet, and color the curling ferns with pale jade and olive. Use sharp pencils and work section by section, because the dinosaur’s scales, spirals, and leaf-vein patterns are tightly packed beside larger rock planes. For a striking twist, keep the stone ledges mostly warm gray and let one huge fern behind the raptor fade from mint at the stem to emerald at the curled tip.

The story behind this coloring page

At the hush of first light, Caldor carried the dull stone lens under his tongue, tasting dust and old rain. He had polished it for seven seasons but had never lifted it to his eye; courage, for him, was not a roar, only the small click of choosing. The crystal canyon breathed cool air through fern ribs, and every ledge answered his claws with a glassy tick.

He set the lens on a flat rock. Through it, the fern curls sharpened into rivers of green, the crystal seams into patient lightning, the markings on his own skin into paths he had never noticed. No thunder came. No prophecy. Only a bright, round nearness, as if the world had leaned in without asking him to change.

Then the lens clouded, and Caldor saw not outward but inward: a tiny canyon held inside the stone, with a tiny raptor peering back, equally careful, equally new. He laughed once, softly, and the sound rang like a pebble in a cup. At the hush of first light, he carried the old rain in his mouth and stepped on.
