🎨 How to color it

Color the dinosaur leaf green, the volcano warm brown with orange lava, the palm leaves bright jungle green, and the smoke soft gray. Use chunky crayons or washable markers for the dinosaur’s big belly and head, then switch to a sharper crayon point for the palm leaf cuts and little claws. For a playful surprise, make the volcano smoke fade from gray to cotton-candy pink like a silly prehistoric puff.

In the warm volcano grove, Pip patted wet red clay with both paws: slap, plop, pat. He wanted to make a noisemaker for the evening stomp parade, so he rolled a fat clay ball and poked it with a palm stem. Steam hissed from the little mountain nearby, smelling like hot stones.

Pip shook his noisemaker. Nothing. He shook it harder. Still nothing. Then a tickly crumb fell from his belly button—plink!—right into the clay ball. “My belly makes music?” Pip giggled.

The bead inside rattled chaka-chaka-chak, and Pip held his handmade noisemaker high. Next time you see his proud grin, can you guess where the first tiny sound was hiding?
