🎨 How to color it

Color the baby triceratops mint green, its horns creamy ivory, the cracked eggshell pale peach, and the leafy plants fresh fern green. Use chunky crayons or broad markers for the round face and egg, then switch to a sharper pencil for the tiny claws, shell cracks, dotted clouds, and sparkle marks. Try making the cheek circles rosy pink and the broken shell pieces slightly darker along their jagged edges.

Every day in Fern Hollow, Pip tapped his smooth moon pebble against the inside of his egg: tik, tik, tik. The pebble was only a tiny gray stone, but Pip rubbed it when the ground boomed and the fern roots scratched his shell. It sounded like courage in his claws.

Until one day, the pebble slipped into a crack and stuck. Because of that, Pip pushed after it, and the shell split with a pop that smelled like wet leaves. Because of THAT, bright air rushed in, chilly and wild, and Pip saw fern shadows waving like giants. “I can do one more tap,” he whispered. Tap! The egg opened wide, and his pebble rolled beside three shiny shell chips. Next time you spot Pip’s little claws on the broken edge, can you hear the tik, tik, tik?
