🎨 How to color it

Color the vampire’s cape in deep burgundy and black, the crescent moon in pearly silver, the castle in cool slate, and the five candle flames in warm amber. Use sharp pencils and work panel by panel, because the hair ribbons, collar facets, arches, and leaf scrolls are packed with narrow stained-glass shapes. Try a quiet contrast: keep the moonlit sky in layered blue-violets while letting the brooch and candle halos glow with small touches of gold.

Before the bells softened, Valerian lit one taper and promised to carry it to the far blue window without turning back. The gallery breathed cold dust and lavender wax; each pane clicked as night wind pressed its shoulder to the glass. Halfway on, a loose silver cuff slipped from his sleeve and chimed into the dark below. He almost followed it. Instead he cupped the flame, watched it lean but live, and reached the window with one cuff bare. Coming back, the small gold light made every blue window less far than before the bells softened.
