Under the cool hilltop moon, Vito tapped his shiny shoes: click-click, clack-clack. He wanted the night parade to start with a perfect bow. The grass smelled wet, the clouds looked like sleepy mashed potatoes, and two bats flapped circles over his cape.
“Ready?” Vito whispered, and lifted one hand grandly. Something in his cape went pip. Not squeak. Not flap. Pip! The bats froze in the air. Vito peeked into the pocket nobody ever checked, and out rolled a tiny silver kazoo.
