🎨 How to color it

Color the cat a soft cream, the wavy yoga mat in sea-glass teal and sandy tan, and the lotus petals in pink with golden centers. Use colored pencils for the narrow mat waves and petal layers, then switch to smoother, lighter strokes for the cat’s rounded belly and tail. Try shading the closed eyelid and whisker area very lightly, so the calm face stays the quietest spot on the page.

On the cool floor of the quiet yoga room, Orson pressed one paw to his chest and invented a game called In, Out, Wonder. One breath meant noticing the cotton smell of the mat. Two breaths meant following a printed wave with his tail. Three breaths meant asking a question without saying it aloud: Where does a still thing go when it is busy being still?

The afternoon light slid over the floorboards like warm milk. Orson kept counting. In, out, wonder. His whiskers ticked with each breath, and the little waves on the mat seemed to travel under him, though nothing moved except air. “I’ll count until the room answers,” he whispered.

Then the lotus beside the mat opened one petal wider, not with a pop, but with the softest paper-sigh. Orson stopped counting. The flower had been playing too: one petal for cotton, two for waves, three for wonder, all arranged around a golden middle. Orson breathed in, and the lotus held its shape; Orson breathed out, and the room felt larger. Next time you see his paw resting there, can you guess which breath he has reached in In, Out, Wonder?
