🎨 How to color it

Try smoke-gray fur for the rabbit, deep burgundy roses, weathered violet-gray stone on the gothic arch, and pale gold stars around the crescent moon. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny vine curls, window tracery, and patterned markings on the rabbit, turning the page as you work into each narrow space. For a gothic glow, blend indigo behind the arch and leave a thin white rim around the rabbit’s ears and the crescent.

The story behind this coloring page

Lazlo’s Moonlit Invitation — Under the thorn chapel, Lazlo arranged fallen rose petals into a game of invitations: one petal for the foxglove, two for the cracked urn, three for the arch’s cold stone feet. Read the full story →

Under the thorn chapel, Lazlo arranged fallen rose petals into a game of invitations: one petal for the foxglove, two for the cracked urn, three for the arch’s cold stone feet. No one came to play, which suited the hush. The air smelled of iron rain and late roses, and the vines made a faint ticking sound as they leaned against the carved ribs overhead.

He added rules as the night deepened. A star-shaped leaf meant “enter softly.” A curled thorn meant “bring a secret.” For every empty place, Lazlo set aside his brightest petals, not for guests, but for whatever passed unseen through the garden: the beetle beneath the moss, the moth behind the cherub’s broken wing, the root drinking in the dark.

Then the crescent moon lifted above the arch, and its pale edge turned every saved petal silver. Lazlo saw the pattern from above: not a game board, but a map of welcome, glowing toward every hidden burrow, nest, and hollow. The garden had arrived without stepping into sight. He bowed to the silvered petals, while the vines ticked softly under the thorn chapel.
