Every day after breakfast, Tiko tied leaves with vines and tested his little sky-sled between the kapok trees. Zip, bump, flop! It needed one more smooth runner, but every stick he tried snapped with a dry crack.
Until one day, the parrots shouted, “Race before rain!” Because of that, Tiko swung higher, searching past the wet-smelling moss. Because of THAT, his toes brushed a banana bunch, and something wooden clunked inside it—not a banana at all, but a curved seedpod, shiny and strong.
Tiko lashed it on with his own tight knots. The sled whooshed, the leaves rattled, and Tiko yelled, “I made it!” Next time you spot him swinging wide with that huge grin, can you guess where the secret runner came from?
