🎨 How to color it

Layer the large leaves in sage green and deep olive, fill the small petals with dusty rose and marigold, and use teal for the curling vine spirals inside the 7. Because the design is packed with narrow veins, scallops, dots, and tight curls, use sharp colored pencils and work from the thick outer border inward. For a quiet glow, shade each leaf from pale green at the stem to darker green at the pointed tip.

In the vine archive, Sevra traced the seventh corridor with a copper stylus, listening to the dry whisper of paper leaves overhead. She had come to rest her hands inside a shape that felt old enough to hold her breath for her. The air smelled of pressed fern and rain on stone; every curve in the corridor answered her steps with a soft, leafy hush.

At the lowest bend, where the floor rounded like a seed pod, a real leaf loosened from the wall and hovered before her. Its veins glowed not green but ink-black, branching exactly like the lines she had followed all evening. “You are not copying us,” it seemed to say without sound. “We have been making room for your hand.”

Sevra set down the stylus. The carved leaves, painted spirals, and living leaf all settled into one slow pattern, neither wild nor made, and the corridor felt less like a place she had entered than a place that had been waiting for her shape.
