🎨 How to color it

Layer the snail’s body in pearl gray, the spiral shell in teal and coral mandala rings, the fern in deep forest green, and the small flowers in marigold yellow. Use sharp colored pencils for the shell’s nested petals, dots, and curls, turning the page as you work each band of the spiral. For a quiet twist, shade the underside of the snail’s foot with lavender and echo that lavender in the smallest pebbles near the flowers.

The story behind this coloring page

Every evening, Calder measured the fern hollow by touch: cool rib of stem, gritty pebble, soft moss, then home before the thrush’s last note. He wanted one new rule for the circle game he had invented—trace a perfect round without using the old path. One evening, dew silvered every leaf and split the world into trembling copies. The safe moss vanished in shine.

Because of that, Calder placed one horn into the bright unknown and felt only air. Because of that, his shell brushed a daisy, scattering pollen that smelled like pepper and honey, and the yellow dust showed where his body had already passed. So Calder followed his own fresh curve, slow as moonrise, until the circle closed around fern, flowers, stones, and fear. At dawn, the hollow held his first brave ring.
