🎨 How to color it

Color the ice cream scoop strawberry pink, the cherry bright red with a spring-green leaf, and the waffle cone golden tan between the crisscross lines. Use sharp colored pencils for the waffle diamonds and tiny sprinkles, then switch to broader strokes for the round scoop and cloud puffs. Try making every star sprinkle yellow and every oval sprinkle turquoise so the scoop looks like a tiny July party.

Every day, Zadie rolled her tiny ice-cream cart onto the library roof and named the clouds by flavor: vanilla thunderhead, marshmallow drift, lemon-fizz puff. She wanted to invent a game nobody could beat, so she tapped her spoon on the cart bell—ting-ting!—and announced, “Scoop-Swap: trade a sprinkle, change the sky!” The rule was simple: a star sprinkle meant sweet, an oval meant silly, and the cherry was the grand champion.

Until one sticky July afternoon, the town’s sky parade got stuck overhead, puffing hot air that smelled like toasted sidewalks. Because of that, Zadie slid her game tokens into the wind, swapping her best cherry for a cool cloud no one else had noticed. Because of THAT, the parade clouds softened, wobbled, and rained tiny drops on the overheated brass band below. No one looked up; they only cheered because their tubas stopped squeaking like geese.

Zadie pretended to grumble about losing the game, then tucked one turquoise sprinkle behind the cart wheel for next time. If you spot the cherry sitting proudly above the scoop, keep the secret: it already gave away its grand champion turn—ting-ting!
