🎨 How to color it

Color the bucket sunny yellow, the star bright red, the shovel ocean blue, and the scallop shells soft coral. Use broad crayon strokes for the open sand and bucket sides, then switch to a sharper pencil for the shell ridges and handle rings. Try making the three big waves fade from turquoise at the curls to pale blue near the horizon.

The story behind this coloring page

The Bucket’s Quiet Gift — At the sandbar, Nori filled a yellow bucket before the sun made the clam beds too warm. Read the full story →

At the sandbar, Nori filled a yellow bucket before the sun made the clam beds too warm. The pail bumped her knee, slosh-slosh, while her blue shovel dragged a soft line through the sugary sand. She wanted every clam to have one cool sip, but the tide had slipped far away.

When the last water was gone, Nori turned the bucket over to rest it. Tink! Something hidden in the rim rang like a tiny bell. A smooth shell, tucked where nobody would look, held one bright drop. “For anyone thirsty,” Nori whispered, and poured it into the nearest ripple.

The ripple carried the drop to the sea. Ever since, July waves curl gently and leave little shells behind for quiet helpers. If you spot the star on the bucket, can you hear the soft slosh-slosh?
