Every morning before breakfast, Willa patted the snowball pile beside the den: pat-pat, sniff-sniff, all tidy. She wanted the best round snowball for the pack’s rolling race, but her brothers kept swapping them for lumpy ones that smelled like pine needles. One windy morning, a snowflake as big as a sled landed with a soft fwump right beside her paws.
Because of that, Willa forgot the race and poked the snowflake’s middle. Because of THAT, a tiny wooden whistle tumbled out—hidden in the very place nobody thought to look. “Aha, you frosty trickster!” she barked. When she blew it, the den yard filled with yip-yip echoes, and every pup came skidding home, laughing. Willa tucked her tail around the snowflake like a chair and knew this noisy, chilly, silly spot was hers; can you spot where the whistle might have been hiding in the frosty branches?
