🎨 How to color it

Color the cotton candy swirls bubblegum pink and lavender, the waffle cone golden brown, the fair tents cherry red, and the stars bright yellow. Use chunky crayons or markers to fill the big cloud-like candy sections first, then add the cone’s crisscross lines with a brown pencil. Try making the top swirl a little lighter than the bottom, as if the cotton candy is catching starlight.

Under the first silver stars, Nico held a paper cone and set himself a tiny challenge: he would take one brave lick and name the flavor of the sky. The fair hummed softly behind him—wheel creak, flag flap, tent ropes tapping in the cool air.

He touched the pink fluff with his tongue. It tasted like sugar, yes, but also like the smell of warm wood and faraway music. “Maybe clouds are quieter than candy,” he whispered.

Then a small breeze lifted a wisp from the cone. It curled upward, and the stars seemed to lean closer, as if they had been waiting to taste Nico’s word. He smiled and named it: “Starlight.” Next time you spot the little flags and wheel below, see if you can find the brave first lick under the first silver stars.
