🎨 How to color it

Color the candy corn tips golden yellow, their middles bright orange, the pumpkin warm pumpkin-orange, and the maple leaves cranberry red. Use chunky crayons or markers to fill the big candy and pumpkin sections first, then trace the skinny leaf veins and curly wind lines with a sharper crayon. For a fun fall twist, make each candy corn’s white bottom glow with a pale cream shade instead of leaving it plain.

Under the porch pumpkin, Taffy the candy corn made a secret dare: he would step past the warm candy bowl and find the tiny sound called the Moon-Crunch. Nobody knew if it was real. The night smelled like dry leaves and cinnamon, and the wind went whoo-loop around the steps. Taffy waddled down one stair, then two, paying for his brave idea with a sticky smudge of caramel on his point.

A maple leaf skittered by. Scratch-scratch. Another leaf spun in a circle. Tick-tick. “That’s not it,” whispered Taffy. Then the pumpkin gave a soft little thump, and three candy corn friends leaned close. The leaf, the pumpkin, and Taffy’s caramel point all tapped together: crunch-click-pop! Taffy carried that sound back to the bowl, grinning wider than before. If you peek at the swirls around the pumpkin, you might catch the Moon-Crunch trying to run away again.
