🎨 How to color it

Color the monkey cocoa brown with a peach face and belly, the wooden rail honey tan, the leafy planters bright green, and the rocky zoo sign soft gray. Use chunky crayons or broad marker strokes for the monkey’s round face, belly, and long tail, then add simple lines along the rail to keep the wood grain visible. Try making every other leaf a lighter green so the plants on both sides look extra bouncy around his grin.

The story behind this coloring page

Gibby’s Wobble-Rail Game — Every morning, Gibby stacked fallen sticks beside the monkey yard rail and called it fixing, though the pile always flopped with a dry clack. Read the full story →

Every morning, Gibby stacked fallen sticks beside the monkey yard rail and called it fixing, though the pile always flopped with a dry clack. He wanted to build his own game before the keeper’s whistle peeped. One warm day, he tied two vine loops to a loose rail, patted the wood smooth, and shouted, “Step, tap, wobble!”

Because of that, the meerkats tried it first and skittered off laughing. Because of that, a peacock bumped the rail, and Gibby had to grab it with both hands while his tail curled like a question mark. At last he added leafy bumpers, named it Wobble-Rail, and grinned when it held. Next time you spot his two proud hands on the rail, can you tell where the game begins?
