🎨 How to color it

Color the monkey cocoa brown with a peach face and belly, make the Santa hat bright red with fluffy white trim, and add green pine trees with gold ornaments. The big round belly, hat, and gift box are perfect for chunky crayons or broad marker strokes, while the candy cane stripes need slower careful coloring. Try a red-and-white candy cane beside a blue gift box so the monkey’s holiday surprise really pops.

The story behind this coloring page

Quin’s Jingle-Guess Game — Under the snowy ornament trees, Quin tapped a candy cane on the soft drifts. Tap-tap, swish! Read the full story →

Under the snowy ornament trees, Quin tapped a candy cane on the soft drifts. Tap-tap, swish! He had just invented Jingle-Guess, a running-around game where every sound became a clue. A round red ornament went plink. A star above him went ting. Quin grinned and held up a striped candy cane like a captain’s spyglass. “Next clue, please!” he called, and the frosty air smelled like peppermint.

Then the wrapped box in his other hand gave a tiny jingle all by itself. Quin froze, ears wide, then laughed so hard his Santa hat bobbled. The game had not been about finding a present—the present had been guessing Quin! Inside was a little silver bell, ringing whenever he bounced. Quin shook the box, tapped the cane, and made a brand-new rule: if the bell answered, everyone had to hop. Next time you see the candy cane, can you hear the tap-tap, swish?
