🎨 How to color it

Color the monkey soft cocoa brown, the banana sunny yellow, the big jungle leaves emerald green, and the cheek ovals peachy pink. Use chunky crayons or broad markers for the monkey’s round head and belly, then switch to a sharper crayon point for the small fingers, nostrils, and leaf stems. Try making the banana extra bright against cooler blue-green leaves so it looks like the coziest snack in the jungle.

The story behind this coloring page

Pip’s Banana Place — Under the wide hush of the leaf grove, Pip tucked one banana against his belly and stepped softly: pat, pat, pat. Read the full story →

Under the wide hush of the leaf grove, Pip tucked one banana against his belly and stepped softly: pat, pat, pat. He had given himself a little challenge—carry the sweet-smelling banana all the way to the crooked-root nest without one nibble. The peel felt smooth in his paws, and warm sun made yellow stripes on the ground. “Not yet,” Pip whispered when his tummy made a tiny grumble.

Then rain began to tap-tap on the giant leaves. Pip slipped beneath a curling vine and found a dry hollow just his size. The banana smell filled the nook, soft and golden, and Pip felt so snug he broke the fruit in two and left half on a flat leaf for the next wet wanderer. Ever since, little monkeys sit in leafy hollows to share bananas when rain taps the grove. If you find Pip holding his banana, can you spot the leaves that made him feel at home?
