🎨 How to color it

Color the elephant soft gray, the little tusk creamy ivory, the grass tufts fresh green, and the round sun bright golden yellow. For young colorers, use chunky crayons to fill the elephant’s big body and simple sun circle, and don’t worry if the lines get crossed. Add a secret orange glow around the sun’s rays, as if the elephant has just found something wonderful in the grass.

The story behind this coloring page

Under the hot hush of Sunny Rise, Tibby pressed one foot into the cool grass and wished for the tickly kind that made her trunk curl. The best tuft stood past the little hill, where the ground felt prickly and warm. “Just one tickle,” she whispered, stepping out with a crunch-crunch of dry stems.

Halfway there, a burr stuck to her toe. Ouch! Tibby hobbled on anyway and nudged the tallest tuft. Something round winked underneath, not a bug, not a pebble—a tiny golden seed, warm as toast. When she blew on it, the seed made the grass shiver and pop into soft green curls.

Tibby carried the warm seed back for everyone to feel. Soon trunks, tails, and toes were wiggling with tickles too big to keep secret. Next time you see Tibby’s curled trunk by the sunny grass, can you guess where the warm surprise was hiding?
