🎨 How to color it

Color the koala soft ash gray, his shiny nose charcoal, the eucalyptus leaves blue-green, and the little stars pale yellow. The big rounded cheeks and ears are perfect for chunky crayons or broad marker fills, while the leaf veins can be traced last with a sharper pencil. Try making the loose floating leaves a slightly lighter green than the branch, as if they are caught in a secret breeze.

Under the moon-wet eucalyptus trees, Bixby padded after a sound like tiny spoons stirring tea. He wanted to know who was making the soft shush-shush above his bed. A leaf spun past his nose, smelling sharp and cool. Then a silver moth landed on a branch and whispered, “Hold this, but do not nibble yet.”

Bixby hugged the branch close. The leaves tickled his chin and began to hum, sending curls of breeze through the grove. Stars blinked between the trunks. The moth said the trees had been saving their quiet songs, with no paws gentle enough to carry them. So Bixby carried them, and every koala after him kept eucalyptus close to hear the hidden shush-shush. If you spot the curled breezes around Bixby, you may know which leaves are still singing.
