🎨 How to color it

Color the kitten marmalade orange with cream stripes, the puppy honey brown with darker floppy ears, and the paw-print blanket in sky blue, cherry red, and sunny yellow stripes. Use sharp colored pencils for the kitten’s whiskers, paw pads, tiny bones, and star points, then switch to broader strokes for the clouds and blanket bands. Try making the two friends warm and bright while shading the sky shapes in pale lavender so their happy faces pop.

The story behind this coloring page

The Blanket Blast-Off Game — Under two puffy clouds, Ziggy slapped one paw on a blue stripe and one paw on a red stripe. Read the full story →

Under two puffy clouds, Ziggy slapped one paw on a blue stripe and one paw on a red stripe. The picnic blanket smelled like sunshine, grass, and the biscuit crumbs he had saved for after his brand-new game. “Blast-off Blanket!” he called, bouncing so hard the little bone shapes wrinkled under his toes.

The rules grew as fast as his giggles: hop on paw prints for comets, tap bones for rocket fuel, freeze when a star came overhead. His puppy friend, Rolo, joined with a thump-thump tail and a grin full of wind. Ziggy dashed left, Rolo scooted right, and the blanket became a roaring map to everywhere at once.

Then Rolo’s wagging tail brushed the corner, and the whole blanket rippled like a flag. Ziggy stopped. The game was not just under their paws—it could sail! Together they puffed their cheeks and blew, whoosh-whoosh, sending the corners fluttering while clouds became islands and stars became signal lights. Look back at the blanket’s bones and paw prints; you can almost hear Ziggy shouting, “Blast-off Blanket!”
