🎨 How to color it

Try a golden-tan coat for the leaping dog, sky blue on the flying disc, fresh green leaves in the tree, and sunny yellow centers on the path-side flowers. Use colored pencils for the dog’s fur tufts and tree bark lines, then switch to broader strokes for the rolling hills and open sky. Add a sunset gradient behind the disc so it looks like the throw is pulling the whole park into motion.

The story behind this coloring page

Why Discs Come Back — By the crooked tree path, Sable chased every round shadow that crossed the grass. Read the full story →

By the crooked tree path, Sable chased every round shadow that crossed the grass. She wanted to catch the fastest one before the park clock clanged six, but each pebble, seedpod, and bottle cap quit rolling too soon in the warm dust.

Then a silver ring skimmed from behind a cloud with a hushy whirr. No paw had thrown it. Sable sprang after it, nose full of leaf-smell, when a tiny wind-sprite popped through the middle and whispered, “Tell me where a chase should end.”

Sable could have said, “In my mouth.” Instead, curiosity tugged harder than hunger. “Back where it began—so it can start again.” The ring dipped into her paws, buzzed like a bee, and curled toward the tree path. Ever since, flying discs remember to return after a good chase; next time you spot this one above Sable’s ears, I dare you to guess which cloud it came from.
