🎨 How to color it

Color the jellyfish bell in coral pink and lavender, the star and sun patterns in golden yellow, the tall sea plants in teal, and the tiny fish in orange. Use sharp colored pencils for the many thin tentacles and scalloped frills, following each strand from the bell downward so the curls stay clear. Try a soft blue-to-violet background wash behind the bubbles and sparkle shapes to make the warm patterned bell look like it is glowing.

The story behind this coloring page

Quin’s Unwatched Gift — Under the tall ribbon-weeds, Quin twirled through the silt lanes with a pouch of glow-specks tucked under one frilly arm. Read the full story →

Under the tall ribbon-weeds, Quin twirled through the silt lanes with a pouch of glow-specks tucked under one frilly arm. He wanted every dull pebble to wink by supper, so he flicked specks into snail tracks, fish shadows, and even the bubbles that went bloop past his nose. No one noticed. That made it funnier. “Shh,” he told a crab wearing a pebble like a hat, “the lane is getting fancy when it isn’t looking.”

By moonrise, Quin’s pouch was flat as a clam cracker. He bobbed upward, trying to look innocent, while the water smelled green and tickly from the swaying weeds. Then the weeds began to giggle. Their leaves pointed—not at the pebbles, not at the bubbles, but at Quin’s own bell. Every hidden speck he had saved for “later” had slipped into his star swirls and sunny loops.

The silt lanes shone below, and Quin shone above them, a floating secret nobody had asked him to keep. He laughed so hard his tentacles curled into question marks. Next time you see the starry bell and all those twisty arms, can you spot where generosity hid when nobody was watching?
