🎨 How to color it

Try a pale peach or soft lavender for the jellyfish bell, sea-glass blue for the four ring markings, teal for the seaweed, and silver-gray for the small fish shapes. Use sharp colored pencils on the many thin tentacles, following each line from the bell outward so the strands stay separate. Add a gentle blue-to-green wash behind the flowing current lines to make the jellyfish look like it is glowing in deeper water.

The story behind this coloring page

Sola’s Thread of Light — Under the quiet blue, Sola tied bits of shed sea-silk into a tiny current-chime. Read the full story →

Under the quiet blue, Sola tied bits of shed sea-silk into a tiny current-chime. She wanted it to sing beside the eelgrass gate before sundown, but every knot slipped apart in the soft push and pull. The loose threads brushed her arms like cool hair. “One more strand,” she whispered, and left her safe patch of swaying weed for the wide water meadow.

Past silver fish flicks and peppery sand-smell, Sola searched where the current ran in long ribbons. A crab’s old shell snagged one of her threads, and she gave it up to free herself. Then she noticed four empty bubbles pressed under a folded kelp leaf, where nobody looked because nothing noisy ever hid there. Inside them lay a thin glow-thread, smooth as moonlight.

Back at the gate, Sola knotted the glow-thread with her own bent strands. The chime did not ring loudly; it gave a small, proud hum that warmed the dark water. Next time you see her drifting with round marks bright on her bell, can you hear the soft hum of one more strand?
