Every day, Arlo scooted his little sailboat past the snack pier, sniffing fries and sunscreen, and invented games with the waves. His newest game was Sneaky Wave Race: make one curl jump, make another curl hide, and never let the gulls guess the winner.
Until one day, a paper lunch bag plopped from a ferry bench into Arlo’s boat. Because of that, Arlo steered after the ferry, but his giggling waves kept bump-bump-bumping him sideways. Because of THAT, he made the biggest curl carry him straight to the dock, where a hungry deckhand found the bag without seeing Arlo. “Best race ever,” Arlo whispered, and next time you spot those curling waves, can you tell which one helped?
