Every night, Quill polished Captain Snarl’s treasure while the living pirates snored below, and every night he wished the coins would make more noise than clink, clink, clink. So he invented Boom-Boom Share: toss a coin into the open chest, salute the moon, and shout the name of someone who deserved a surprise.
Until one night, his first coin bounced off a pearl, pinged a ruby, and rolled straight through a knothole in the deck. Because of that, the sleeping parrot below squawked, “Treasure rain!” Because of THAT, the cook, the cabin boy, and three deck rats came scrambling up, each bringing something silly to toss in: a button, a biscuit, a thimble, and one very offended olive.
Quill’s joy swelled bigger than the sail in a storm. He saluted so hard his hat wobbled, then changed the rules: every toss had to name someone else’s gift. The deck rang with clinks, plops, and giggles until the moon shone through the round window like a silver referee. If you spot Quill’s raised hand, you’ll know exactly when Boom-Boom Share stopped being his game and became the whole ship’s clink, clink, clink.
