🎨 How to color it

Color Santa’s coat a classic crimson, the reindeer a warm chestnut brown, the sleigh runners a shiny gold, and the little string lights soft yellow. Use sharp colored pencils for the harness bells, sleigh scrollwork, windowpanes, and carrot leaves, then fill Santa’s broad coat with smoother marker strokes. Try giving the open winter sky a pale lavender wash so the red suit and yellow stable lights feel extra cozy.

The story behind this coloring page

Behind the harness shed, Soren rolled one striped carrot between his mittens, listening to the sleigh bells wake up with bright ching-ching-ching. He wanted to save it for the very first jingle test, when Santa checked each strap and runner before the long ride. The carrot smelled like cold earth and sweet green tops, and Soren tucked it into the snow beside a bucket so it would stay crisp.

While lanterns blinked along the stable roof, a young reindeer stepped out of the pine shadows without a sound. Its antlers were still dusted with needles, and its nose twitched straight toward Soren’s hidden prize. Santa knelt nearby, reading the reindeer’s harness tags, and smiled as if the night had just told him a secret. “Maybe the test starts with waiting,” he said.

Soren held still. The reindeer waited too. Then Santa offered the carrot, and the first jingle came not from the sleigh, but from the little bells on the reindeer’s chest as it took one careful bite. Next time you spot the carrot bucket, see if you can guess which striped carrot waited longest.
