🎨 How to color it

Color the big shooting star lemon yellow, its long trails tangerine and pink, the puffy clouds pale blue, and the crescent moons silver. Use broad crayons or markers for the star and clouds, then switch to a sharper crayon tip for the tiny stars, dots, and sparkles. Try making the three trails different colors so the shooting star looks like it is carrying a soft rainbow through the night.

Under the cloud harbor, Jun held a small brass coat button in his mitten. It was smooth from rubbing, warm as toast, and he liked to press it to his ear while the night made hush-hush sounds.

Above him, the stars blinked between sleepy clouds. Jun set the button on the highest cloud puff, just to watch it shine. Then a tiny sky-polisher, no bigger than a spoon, climbed out from behind a moon with an empty lantern hook. “That will do,” she whispered.

She hung Jun’s button on the hook, and a bright star swept by, leaving ribbons of light. Jun did not ask for it back. Next time you see that shining trail, can you guess which warm brass button helped it glow?
