Every day, Nola nibbled the soft leaves at the top, munch-munch, in the warm yellow light. Until one day, a tiny beetle bumped her nose and whispered, “Too hot.”
Because of that, Nola stepped beside the acacia tree. Because of that, her tall shadow slid over the beetle, cool and soft as a cloud. At last, Nola let the best leaves wait. She stood still while nobody clapped, and the grass went hush-hush in the warm yellow light.
