Beside the curvy park lane, Pip rolled in softly, hoping kids would find his window before the popsicles got drippy. His tires made only a hush-hush on the warm path, and the cold tubs inside smelled like vanilla and cherry.
Then a tiny bell cricket hopped onto his menu board. “Psst. Your treats need a trail,” she chirped. Pip blinked his round headlights. The cricket rubbed her wings: ting-ting, tweedle-ting! Pip’s little engine copied it, louder and sweeter, until sneakers came pat-pat through the grass.
Ever since that secret afternoon, ice cream trucks play jingles so curiosity can chase them down the street. Next time you see Pip’s cone sign, can you almost hear ting-ting, tweedle-ting?
