🎨 How to color it

Color the koala soft ash gray, the eucalyptus trunk warm tan with darker bark lines, and the long leaves silvery green. Use chunky crayons for the koala’s big body and broad trunk, then try a sharper green crayon for the narrow leaf centers. Add one secret golden leaf among the hanging eucalyptus leaves, as if the koala has just spotted something special.

The story behind this coloring page

Under the lowest branch, Kiko tapped a tiny bark button in his paw. Tick, tick. It smelled dry and dusty, like old leaves. He wanted to fit it back where it belonged, but the right tree was high above his soft nap spot.

Up Kiko climbed. Scratch went his claws. A leaf brushed his nose, and he sneezed so hard he dropped his snack. Still, he waited when the trunk gave a quiet click. “There,” he whispered.

The button slid into a small round mark. From inside the bark came a cool drip-drop song, and a silver line showed where rain had slept all week. Kiko climbed down hungry, but smiling, with the secret sound in his ears. Next time you see his lifted paw by the bark, can you guess where the rain was hiding?
